Highlights from last weekend's Trampoline 3 (un)conference in Melbourne. "A self-organising event for those who find the world interesting, have something to offer and share, and have an inquisitive mind..."
In the lead up to World Malaria Day I decided to host an UNDERCOVER party as a fundraiser for insecticide-treated bed nets. The event took place at Melbourne's 'Middle Eastern' culinary jewel http://mahabg.com.au - a restaurant graciously made available to us by head chef and friend, Shane Delia.
The UNDERCOVER party turned out to be an intimate soiree shared by approximately 35 people. I've put together a short video (approx. 9 minutes) of Flip and Ustream footage to capture the spirit of the day. You'll get a sense of the vibe, the wonderful food, exotic drinks... you'll even learn how to prepare a 'desert rose' martini (enjoy responsibly ;) MAHA deserve more than a positive shout for hosting this event. Seriously, you need to experience this restaurant to believe it; the food is authentic Middle Eastern and yet has an inspired and unique aspect (Shane, you Rock!) The staff are equally professional and knowledgeable of the Levante, making it a truly memorable and immersive culinary journey for all those who visit. Special thanks to everyone who participated and especially MaƮtre d' Alicia and her wonderful staff, who each donated their time to make the event possible. We purchased 42 nets on the day which will save approximately 170 children from malaria. Definitely a reason to celebrate!
Presentation slides from my talk at Marketing Now! in Melbourne. The 'Reconnection Journey' -- a hypothesis I first presented at London Festival, Redesign in 2006 -- has a social ecology focus and presents ideas for sustainable living, open innovation and a new, collaborative model for action and participation. I also profile Spark! - a powerful listening and engagement technology which makes it possible to identify influence, sentiment, and linked relationships within complex data sets, including social media.
